  •  Know your budget            This may entail a trip to your lender if you are considering a loan.
  •  Know your goals              Are you fixing your home to sell, planning your dream kitchen, or simply updating
  •  Know your timeframe    Are you hosting a party? Are the holidays around the corner? Is the baby due?
  •  Know yourself                      How much disarray can you handle? Some clients prefer to get everything done at once. Others
  •                                               cannot handle the upset in more than one area at a time.
  •  Get organized                        A large plastic storage container will come in handy for larger samples and protect your car home                                              from sharp edges. A manageable size will make it easy to carry from your car to your home. A                                              Binder with heavy duty sheet protectors will work well for note taking, quotes, samples, paint                                              chips, and pictures. You may want to get extra containers if you are getting new cabinets for                                               easy storage.
  •   Gather pictures, fabric samples, notes you may have been making about your        plans
  •  If not already familiar with your camera phone or a digital camera, learn how         to use it. It will be extremely helpful particularly for larger projects.
  • Don't be afraid to use the internet to get your creativity flowing. Most                   remodeling evolves from an initial idea or picture. Try sites like the new              Pinterest. Visit show homes in your area.
